Year 13 philosophy retreat

On Friday 26th January Year 13 philosophy students set off on their residential trip to Slaidburn, in the Forest of Bowland.
The visit provided a relaxing retreat in the beautiful countryside. The peaceful remote location cleared minds and gave students the perfect mindset for contemplation.
The main activity of the weekend was the 12 mile walk around the Ribble Valley and the nearby reservoir followed by a delicious meal. Each night students entertained themselves with board games and card games such as ‘cheat, trying to guess one another’s ‘tells’.

There was plenty of philosophical conversation throughout the weekend, on topics such as existentialism and what makes our existence meaningful, along with deep discussions about the issues we have studied so far. All of which helped broadened students’ knowledge outside the curriculum.
