New Year 7 information update – revised 8 August

Below is some important information which we hope will further aid the smooth transition, as you start your exciting journey at the High School.

The new Year 7 students are at the forefront of our plans for the September start. We recognise that this will have been a challenging time for them. Their induction day currently planned for Friday 3rd September will include some time in school prior to the other year groups returning, orientation activities, familiarisation with routines and procedures, introduction to the Wilmslow Way behaviour and rewards system, wellbeing training and the opportunity to meet key members of staff.

  • You should have received a letter informing you of your son’s /daughter’s House team along with their tutor group. In September please use the form tutor as the first point of contact.
  • Heads of House contact details are below should you need to speak to them:

Bollin – Mrs K White

Harefield – Mr S Naylor

Norcliffe – Miss K Wynne

Thorngrove – Mr J Duffy

  • We are continuing to operate the dedicated e-mail to aid enquiries, our transition team will respond should there be any specific transition related questions:
  • In the autumn term we will hold a ‘Settling-in Evening’ for new students. Following a lot of positive feedback relating to the effectiveness of our online parents’ evening we are planning to run this event in the same way as our welcome event.
  • The main transition information required for September is contained in our High Notes Transition communications:

Issue 1 – Senior Leadership and Student Services Welcome

Issue 2- Tour of the School and Uniform

Issue 3 – The Wider Curriculum

Issue 4 – The Formal Curriculum

Issue 5 – Extended Leadership Team and Student Services (Including form tutors)

You can access all five editions at the link below:

  • We sent you an email on Friday 6th August with details of how to update your contact details with us. Accompanying this email was a SIMS Parent Registration information sheet.  Please can you act on these documents before your son / daughter joins us in September.
  • If your child has any medical conditions or need that we need to be aware of please complete the online form found at the following link (Click here). It is extremely important this is completed immediately as it ensures we have the most up to date medical, dietary and emergency contact information for your child. Following this our Medical Needs Coordinators will be in touch to clarify how we can support your child.

We are very excited to be welcoming the new Year 7 students to Wilmslow high School and although the process has been slightly different this year, once were all back in school, things will feel very much like business as usual.

We will be determining the Covid-19 control measures to be adopted in the new term over the summer. Please be aware that this is likely to involve testing for all new Year 7 students on site on Thursday 2nd September. However, further detail will be published about these arrangements by Friday 27th August.

Finally, the link below will take you to our final edition of High Notes Transition which will introduce you to a number of key staff who will support you when you join us at Wilmslow High School.
