Family Support Worker

Family support workerMy role is to support children and families to promote their Personal, Education and Social Development.  The aim is to develop positive skills and attitudes by engaging children and parents to redress differences, value opinions and empower individuals to address issues affecting their lives, including health and education. I often act as a link between students and a variety of services.

At Wilmslow High School we believe, that students achieve more if teachers, support staff, parents and carers work together. I provide parental outreach work giving parents and families’ advice and guidance. We encourage and sign post young people to use various Services Centers locally to attend groups or activities. This helps parents and carers engage positively with their children’s education and work programmes.

I have set up various collaborative ventures between Cheshire East Youth Support Services and Wilmslow High School including:

  • Volunteers Group This project is intended to help both the young people foster a sense of pride both in themselves and in their community. As well as promoting the good name of Wilmslow High School
  • PHSCE Looking at alternative programmes that would be more beneficial and positive for the individual student to be take part in.
  • Residential Visits The purpose of these visits is to celebrate success of Students, also providing students with exciting opportunities to further develop their self esteem.
  • Group Work .We explore the nature of various programmes, through informal Education, Social action and lifelong learning.

I continue to develop new ideas which I think would benefit Student, Parent/Carer and School.
