Schools National Final
Dris produced a remarkably consistent qualifying performance, recording scores of 47, 46, 46 and 47 across his four five-shot series. He finished first after the 20-shot qualification round and went on to take first place in the regional final.
His score also placed him at the top of the championships’ national qualification rankings for 10m Precision Open at that stage of the season. His place in the National Final is confirmed on the official list of qualifiers.
A Sport of Precision and Concentration
In 10m air rifle shooting, competitors aim at a stationary target ten metres away. It is an Olympic discipline in which accuracy and sustained concentration are central to performance.
0.5 mm
The standard 10m air rifle target’s central ten-ring is just half a millimetre across — a striking illustration of the precision involved.

The Schools Championships include both Sporter and Precision air rifle categories. Precision is an Open category, bringing eligible school-age competitors together rather than separating them into the Junior, Intermediate and Senior divisions used for individual Sporter events.
On to the National Final
The 2026–27 championships comprise ten regional qualifying events leading to a National Final. The published programme (PDF) schedules the final for Wednesday 10 February 2027 at Nechells Wellbeing Centre in Birmingham.
North West gold and a place on the national stage are achievements to celebrate. Congratulations to Dris on an excellent performance — everyone at Wilmslow High School wishes him well for the final.
