Wilmslow High School’s U14 girls were knocked out of the Cheshire Cup on penalties following a dramatic 5–5 draw away at St Nicholas.
The girls produced some excellent football to build a commanding 5–0 lead, with Lucia Roca scoring a hat-trick and Estelle Fenton adding two goals.
However, St Nicholas fought back in the final 15 minutes to level the scores before winning the penalty shoot-out.
Although the ending was disappointing, Wilmslow had impressed for much of the match. Isla Monks was named Player of the Match.
The team’s attention now turns to their ESFA Cup campaign.
Goalscorers: Lucia Roca (3), Estelle Fenton (2).
Player of the Match: Isla Monks.
