Podium Success for Surge Motorsport at STEM Racing Regionals

Last Thursday, Surge Motorsport, our Year 12 F1 team, travelled to The University of Greater Manchester in Bolton to compete in the North West Regional Finals of STEM Racing.

The team – Oli Aston, Myles Glenister, Joshua Jones, Will Sellars and Sam Warren – have worked incredibly hard over the past few months preparing for the competition. As part of the challenge, they designed and manufactured a professional-class race car, produced a 10-page design and engineering portfolio, a 10-page enterprise and marketing portfolio, and created a fully branded pit display. Every element was completed to an outstandingly professional standard.

Their hard work paid off with some fantastic results. Out of 35 teams, Surge Motorsport achieved 1st place for Best Portfolios, and they also secured 3rd place overall in the Professional Class out of 13 teams — an incredible achievement.

A huge thank you goes to Howdens, Celerity, Chelsea Flowers, Co-Op Local Extra, F1 Bearings and Hiring Hub for supporting the team through their sponsorship.

This is a brilliant example of our students putting their learning into practice — truly living the “Know More, Do More, Be More” spirit of the Wilmslow Way.

Congratulations to Surge Motorsport — we are incredibly proud of you!
