¡Viva España! Year 10 Embrace Spanish Life in Jaén
Last week 50 Year 10 students headed off to Jaén in Spain for their widely anticipated Spanish Immersion visit.
It was a fun packed five days where students completely immersed themselves in Spanish life. It wasn’t typical South of Spain weather but not even Storm Leonardo could dampen spirits. Everyone was keen to meet their Spanish penpal from Divino Maestro School. It was a fantastic opportunity to do lots of bilingual activities with their new friends. They got to see their Spanish friends again for an interview activity, at the shopping centre, at the bowling alley and at the farewell disco. Lots of Spanish has been spoken and new friends have been made.
Some other highlights of the trip were a sightseeing tour of Madrid, visiting the Alhambra Palace in Granada, shopping in the Moorish markets of Granada and of course no visit to Jaén would be complete without olive oil tasting (after all it is the world’s biggest producer of olive oil).
A big thank you to all the staff who accompanied the trip – Mr Pollock, Mr Hollis, Mrs Millington and Miss Royle.
