Research the world of work

Labour market information

Labour market information (LMI) can help students, families and teachers understand what different jobs involve, what skills they need and how employment is changing locally, nationally and internationally, including salary levels and the skills needed.

Use LMI as one part of your research. Compare it with what you enjoy, your strengths and the subjects or training routes that interest you. Job forecasts and salary figures are estimates and can change.

Earlier LMI for All resources

The original page included Skillsometer and Careerometer. Skillsometer explored interests; Careerometer compared up to three occupations and the UK average using pay, hours and prospects. LMI for All’s closure notice says its data stopped being updated at the end of 2024 and access was due to end in October 2025. Treat these as historical resources and use current job profiles for decisions.

For support with careers research, students can also start with the student careers page and Unifrog.
