After GCSE results

Before you submit

A useful final check.

  1. Read the content and assessment information for every course you are considering.
  2. Check the general and subject entry conditions, including any points that need school confirmation.
  3. Think about the size of your programme and whether your subjects work together.
  4. If you have a post-18 route in mind, check the precise requirements with individual providers.
  5. Prepare alternative choices and write down questions for your tutor or the Sixth Form team.
  6. Use the correct application form and keep a copy of the confirmation or acknowledgement.
Common questions

A little clarity helps.

Does choosing a subject guarantee a place on it?

No. Final programmes depend on entry conditions, the timetable, demand and the school’s admissions arrangements.

Can I change my mind?

Discuss any change with school. Your first choices help planning, but a later change may depend on available places and the timetable. Do not assume an updated planner changes your application.

What if my results differ from my predictions?

Speak to the Sixth Form team and follow the results-day instructions. They can discuss which programmes are available in your circumstances.

Who should I contact?

Current WHS students: your form tutor is the first point of contact. External applicants and general Sixth Form enquiries: Mrs Flannery, kflannery@wilmslowhigh.com or 01625 441070.
